dionaea 0.3.0 released and plans for the future

Today dionaea 0.3.0 has been released with a lot of cool new features.

Since we have forked dionaea three month ago a lot of cool new features have been added. The modifications provided by gento have been merged into the master branch to support the MQTT, UPnP and pptp protocols. Also a long outstanding patch to support hpfeeds as logging target has been merged. Also new are the json logging and the possibilities to customize the SSL certificates, the FTP service and the headers in HTTP responses.

Plans for the near future

There are plans to publish two more releases this year.

We plan to replace the old config format powered by the lcfg lib with two new formats in version 0.4.0 in a few month. The first config format will be a Key-Value config like an ini file on Windows. A parser for this format is included in the glib library and will not introduce new dependencies. The second config format will be yaml to configure the ihandlers and services written in Python. Yaml files can be parsed with the help of pyYAML. A package to install this module should be available on all major Linux distributions.

We also have plans to add support for additional services like memcached and http proxies like squid.
